The autonomous refrigeration of the 21st Century
Environmentally-friendly, mobile, quiet, Coldway Technologies has created 21st-century refrigeration
Since 2018, Coldway Technologies, an entity of the SOFRIGAM GROUP, has designed, tested and manufactured autonomous refrigeration units intended to be assembled onto insulated containers. These active cooling containers are then themselves assembled onto any type of vehicle (bicycle, tricycle, automobile or truck) to transport food products or pharmaceuticals while maintaining the cold chain.
Autonomous, mobile, quiet and durable, this refrigeration system has many advantages to facilitate last-mile delivery in urban centres, as well as being a completely carbon-free technology.
It also provides an appropriate response to urban delivery issues and an alternative to the new regulations governing refrigerants, which are slated to prohibit HFCs within a few years.
The solid-gas sorption system in practice
The Coldway Inside cold (or heat) production technology relies on the principle of solid-gas sorption. It is a chemical reaction between a natural refrigerant, ammonia, and a mixture of salts and graphite, in a completely hermetically-sealed circuit.
The solid-gas sorption system stores energy indefinitely. It has the immense advantage of creating cold and heat instantaneously, with no noise or vibration, and of being infinitely rechargeable. More than 3,000 recharge cycles have been observed, with no loss of power.
Coldway Inside, a patented technology from the CNRS
Coldway Technologies is a French company created in 2001. Its innovative and patented cold production system results from a CNRS technology transfer.
Used for more than 15 years in markets where stringency and rigor are required, such as the health, food and automotive fields, the refrigeration system developed by Coldway Technologies also offers broad application prospects with manufacturers who put the environment and mobility at the heart of their concerns.
